New York premiere of 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues'

Rumors have been swirling that funny-man Paul Rudd will venture into the world of comic book superheroes, but today, Marvel made it official.

The Anchorman 2 star will play Ant-Man in an undisclosed movie set to hit theaters July 2015.

“When director Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star,” studio head Kevin Feige said. “We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”

It’s unclear if the role will be in a stand-alone Ant-Man movie, or a co-lead, like many of Rudd’s other films.

Regardless, we love Paul and can’t wait for more details on this film.
