On what would have been Trayvon Martin’s 19th birthday, the man who shot and killed him has found another way to take the spotlight off the teen by making a shocking announcement.
George Zimmerman has chosen an opponent for the celebrity boxing match he entered — rapper DMX.
At least Kanye is off the hook now.
If you recall, Zimmerman paired up with promoter Damon Feldman, owner of Celebrity Boxing, for the event. Proceeds will be donated to charity.
He said last week that he was accepting offers for someone to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman.
“The news has been out for an hour and my e-mail is overloaded with 8,000 people wanting to fight George,” Feldman told CNN on Thursday.
Early Wednesday morning, he said he’s picked the contender. Out of more than 15,000 e-mailed requests, he’s going with DMX.
“The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time,” his news release said (uppercase emphasis his).
And according to TMZ, DMX plans on beating him to a pulp.
As we first reported, DMX promised to massacre Zimmerman in the ring if he got the chance. To be exact, he said, “I am going to beat the living f**k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up.” He then said he’d literally piss on George’s face.
