We’ve seen Russell Simmons everywhere lately. (He’s currently pushing his new book, Success Through Stillness: Meditation Made Simple, which you can buy here).

However, we haven’t heard him quite like this yet. Uncle Rush made his podcast debut recently, appearing on “The Combat Jack Show.” And while the recent interviews we’ve seen Russell on have focused on the now, in his talk with Combat Jack, Rush talks about the past.

Here’s how Combat Jack describes it himself:

“The Godfather of this whole damn thing, Rush broke bread reflecting on his time as a gang member, small time drug dealer, how Hip Hop saved his life, why DJ Hollywood should be remembered in the rap history books, why Diddy is the man he is today, Rick Rubin, Lyor Cohen, Dame Dash, how he’s not hung up on the word “nigga”…. so much covered that we had to end it with a lesson in meditation, literally. I’ve seen a lot in my life, but I never thought I’d see the day when a real life rap yogi would be walking us down memory lane.”

Rush pops up at the 15-minute mark and the podcast lasts nearly two hours. Do yourself a favor, give it a listen.
