The king is back. Well, musically at least.

Earlier today, Epic Records CEO LA Reid announced the arrival of Michael Jackson’s long-awaited Timbaland-produced posthumous album.

The album – titled Xscape – is scheduled to arrive May 13, and will feature production by Rodney Jerkins, J-Roc, John McClain, and many others.

In a statement, LA Reid said:

“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world. Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”

Posthumous albums can be tricky at times, but it seems like LA Reid and Timbaland have vowed to maintain the integrity of Michael with this new project. Pre-orders will be available on iTunes April 1.
