Cliven Bundy doesn’t give a f*ck.

No, really. The Nevada rancher who became infamous after refusing to pay the government $1.1 million in grazing fees (and who recently announced black people would be better off as slaves) just can’t care if he’s still calling African-Americans “negroes.”

And in a press conference the public assumed would be damage control for the racist comments he made about black people and slavery to a New York Times reporter, Bundy defended his blatant discrimination…and we’re not sure he was even aware.

After all, he was just being good ol’ Cliven Bundy.

Like when he said this:

“They’re not slaves no more. They seem to be slaves to the welfare system.”

And this about seeing black people in Las Vegas:

“It looked to me like they were slaves.”

And then when he just sat there…a-wondering:

“I’m not saying that I thought they should be slaves … I’m not even saying they was better off. I’m a-wondering if they were better off?”

Oh, when he insisted that he knew what slavery was all about and then asked, ironically, if using forced labor was what America was about:

“I might not have a very big word base, or vocabulary, I guess. But let me tell you something: When I say slavery, I mean slavery. I understand what slavery’s all about, and there’s no question in my mind about that I don’t know what slavery’s about. Slavery’s about when you take away choices for people, and where you have forced labor and you transfer people and sell them and all of those kinds of things. Do you think that’s what America’s all about? Do you think that’s what I’m about, America? If it is, you’re sure wrong, because I don’t believe in any of that type of stuff.”

But most importantly, when he wondered if black people missed being slaves, hanging around in front of our gardens and happy family units and chickens:

“Are they better off with their woman aborting their children? Are they better off with their young men in prison? Are they with the older people on the sidewalks in front of their government-issued homes with a few children? Are they better off, are they happier than they was when they was in the South in front of their homes with their chickens, and their gardens, and their children around them. … and their men having something to do?”

If you’re not shocked and appalled enough, click here to see Bundy’s original comment about black people being happier picking cotton.

Try not to break your computer screen while you’re at it.
