It’s been nearly a decade since Halle Berry starred in a recurring television series.

Well, get ready for the hottest MILF’s return to a television near you in CBS’s new sci-fi thriller, Extant. The futuristic show will tell the story of Molly Woods, an astronaut who has been in space for a year, but returns pregnant. She now has to face the trials and tribulations of explaining this to her husband and family.

Berry loved this role so much, she decided to put a few feature films on hold to try working on television again. And the few extra coins didn’t hurt after the nasty custody battle with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry has finally been settled. Berry is supposedly making $100,000 per episode and gaining producer credit.

The newlywed spoke to Entertainment Weekly about why she chose to take on the role of Molly Woods, her family, and working with exec producer Steven Spielberg. Extant will premiere on CBS July 9th. Until then, the latest issue of EW hits stands tomorrow. Check out a few highlights from the interview.

On The Role of Molly Woods:

“The minute I started to read it, I couldn’t put it down,” Berry told the mag. “I thought, ‘Wow. This is different.’ It’s innovative. Molly is a strong female character, which I really love to play. Molly is a complicated woman with a complicated family. Who is a woman who goes away to space for a year and leaves her husband, first of all? Who is a woman who comes back pregnant and tries to handle it somehow on her own? That just felt like a complication that I wanted to be a part of.”

On Putting Big Screen Roles on Hold:

“I was being offered parts that I felt like I had done before,” Berry tells Entertainment Weekly in their latest issue, on newsstands tomorrow, of her decision to make the transition. “They weren’t exciting enough for me to leave my family for four months.”

On Having Steven Spielberg On Set:

“I was like, ‘Really? Is my hair okay?’”
