Someone may have kicked Spongebob’s pineapple a little too hard.
One taxi driver was left beaten up by people dressed as Spongebob Squarepants, Mickey Mouse, Ice Age‘s Scrat, and Russian cartoon character Luntik during a fender bender in Russia over the weekend.
According to The Moscow Times, the incident happened early Saturday morning when the taxi driver confronted the car full of characters in a fit of road rage. What happened next was more than what he bargained for.
The child-unfriendly scene reportedly took place in the city of Chelyabinsk at about 2:30 a.m Saturday morning, and the victim must have thought he was dreaming as SpongeBob SquarePants, Mickey Mouse, a squirrel that looks like Scrat from “Ice Age,” and an unidentified rabbit, kicked and punched him as he lay defenselessly on the floor.
After the attack, the characters made a swift getaway in their van — much to the amusement of the passengers in the car behind who captured the entire scene on a dashboard camera and uploaded it to YouTube in a video titled “Rough Chelyabinsk Disney.”
The video has been viewed over 3 million times in a span of 24 hours. While some people were amused by the viral sensation, others have questioned its authenticity. In the beginning of the video, the men are talking about an upcoming Chelyabinsk election, prompting some to believe it was created to spark conversation about the politicians.
Regardless of the authenticity, the mascots haven’t been persecuted. And yes, it’s still very weird as hell and hard not to watch.
