If you haven’t heard Canadian singer/songwriter Kiesza’s smash record “Hideaway,” you’ve probably been hiding under a huge boulder. After recording, mixing, and mastering “Hideaway” in less than 90 minutes, Kiesza released the record thinking it would eventually gain traction among dance DJs.
Boy, was she wrong.
After discretely releasing “Hideaway,” the song took off in a little over a week. Over 100 million YouTube views later, Kiesza is now HTC’s Global Brand Ambassador.
We caught up with the Canadian pop sensation during HTC’s huge press conference in New York City last week. During our time with Kiesza, she revealed how she became HTC’s Global Ambassador, talked about the unexpected success of “Hideaway,” writing a song for Rihanna, and of course, her collaboration with Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$.
