Media trailblazer Karen Civil has helped create digital platforms for some of your favorite artists like Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle, and YG, but now the businesswoman is headed to Haiti to give back through her Sow a Seed organization with the Live Civil Playground. The playground, sponsored by Civil herself, is the second Project PlayWorld in Haiti and the country’s first learning landscape in Croix des Bouquets.

Non-profit organization Sow a Seed was launched by Civil in an effort to provide effective programs for orphans in Haiti. In addition to the Live Civil Playground, the Haitian-American donated $41,000 of her own money to better the lives of children in the poverty-stricken country.

“I believe in the power of play. Unfortunately, Haiti does not have many safe environments for children to play and express themselves,” said Karen Civil. “Coming from a Haitian-American home, I thought it was necessary to give back to the country in which my parents were raised. That is why I believe in Project PlayWorld’s efforts to provide secure playing spaces for the children of Haiti with the Live Civil Playground.”

The Live Civil Playground features recyclable materials, such as reused tires and ten interactive educational games for over 500 children. Space has also been reserved for music lessons and lectures from teachers and community leaders.
