Four people are dead, including three Americans, after two Palestinian men armed with meat cleavers and a gun attacked a Jerusalem synagogue Tuesday morning. The attackers were shot dead by police in the deadliest incident in six years in the holy city. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to respond with a “heavy hand” and President Obama strongly condemned the attack. Police in Indonesia have come under scrutiny after administering banned “virginity tests” on female applicants to determine if the women’s hymens were intact. If the applicant failed the test, they were expelled from the force. “The Indonesian National Police’s use of virginity tests is a discriminatory practice that harms and humiliates women,” said Nisha Varia, associate women’s rights director at Human Rights Watch. A Kansas woman is in critical condition after being sexually assaulted by an attacker and set on fire. It is unclear if the victim knew her attacker, police say. Because of her condition, investigators have been unable to interview the woman. Firefighters responded to a grass fire Friday and found the 36-year-old woman with severe burns over her body. She also had cuts on her head. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the attacker. Read about it here… [HuffPost]

Yes, the Charles Manson who led his cult of followers on a killing spree that left many dead in the 1960’s, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate.
