Hit The Floor star Stephanie Moseley and her husband of five years, rapper Earl Warren Hayes, attempted to reconcile before a murder-suicide left them both dead earlier this week.

Hayes, 34, and Moseley, 30, were found Monday inside a Los Angeles apartment after neighbors reported hearing a woman’s screams and gunshots shortly after. Police say Hayes shot Moseley and then killed himself after an argument over infidelity — TMZ reported Hayes accused Moseley of cheating on him with singer Trey Songz.

But the two did try to smooth things over just days before the tragic incident, according to family members.

“They had recently gotten back together and were trying to work things out,” homicide Detective Scott Masterson said.

Moseley had spoken to family members in Canada last Thursday and told them that “things were going pretty (well) and that she was upbeat and optimistic about things,” the detective said.

Investigators don’t know “what made it turn so violent Monday morning,” he said.

Investigators are aware of the relationship between Hayes and boxer Floyd Mayweather, a friend of the couple who was reportedly on FaceTime with Hayes moments before he killed Moseley and himself.

“We know that there’s a relationship there,” Masterson said. “If he has anything significant to add to the investigation, we want to know.”

Two attorneys for Mayweather told The Associated Press that they had not heard from the boxer. He was due in San Antonio for a fight on Friday.

And according to TMZ, Mayweather may have played a role in riling Hayes up before the killing.

Hayes was distraught over what he believed was repeated infidelity, including a fling he said Stephanie had with Trey Songz.

One Mayweather source says Floyd challenged Hayes, saying he was weak for not leaving her.

At that point, as Floyd was on FaceTime, Hayes went off and said he was going to gun down Stephanie. We’re told when the boxer realized Hayes was going to shoot Stephanie, he begged Hayes not to go through with it.

Our law enforcement sources say Hayes went into the bathroom and fired 10 to 12 shots as Stephanie was taking a bath. We’re told she was hit multiple times.

Because Mayweather is a possible witness to the crime, it is said the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) are looking to question him.

But those familiar with Hayes’ music may know that the rapper has alluded to murder and suicide in the past. In a 2010 record titled “Suicide,” Hayes said this:

Shoot your girlfriend or when you get surrounded by cops.

F**k the real life shoot it out and do your time on the spot.

Make a family crying with your girl and their hearstses.

Take somebody with you who really didn’t deserve it.

Show everybody that life just ain’t perfect.

And when you get mad, it’s time to close curtains,

Cuz this song is for you.

An investigation into the murder-suicide continues. Police have not released any additional information, but according to TMZ, at least 10 pounds of high-grade marijuana was found inside the Los Angeles apartment the couple shared. It’s unknown if the drugs had anything to do with the killing.
