Byers made Gealey’s 31st birthday dinner, which was July 26, even more special by popping the question.
From Us Weekly:
“He surprised her on her birthday,” a source tells Us. “He popped the question and she was totally surprised and elated. She can’t stop looking at the ring! They celebrated all night.”
Both took to Instagram to post celebratory photos of Gealey’s birthday.
In Empire, which tore up our screens since its premiere in January, Gealey plays Anika Calhoun, head of Empire Entertainment A&R. She is engaged to Empire Entertainment CEO Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), meaning Andre Lyon (Byers) will play her stepson on the show, E! reports.
Empire returns for a second season on Sept. 23.
