The nation grew furious earlier this week when 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for bringing his homemade clock to school.

The teenager gained support from many notables, including President Obama, who invited him over to the White House. When Ahmed was arrested, Texas police identified his object as a “hoax bomb” but now, sources are stating that officials knew the device was not a threat to society.

According to Complex:

“The officers pretty quickly determined that they weren’t investigating an explosive device,” Police Chief Larry Boyd told MSNBC. “What their investigation centered around is the law violation of bringing a device into a facility like that that is intended to create a level of alarm. In other words, a hoax bomb — something that is not really a bomb, but is designed and presented in a way that it creates people to be afraid.”

After Ahmed was sent to juvenile detention, MacArthur High School invited him back to school but he refused to go back. Leave your thoughts below.
