During the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 45th Annual Legislative Conference 2015, Roland Martin, host of TV One’s NewsOne Now, spoke with Sandra Bland’s mother about her daughter’s passing and her desire to keep Bland’s memory alive.

In the midst of their discussion on the floor of the Congressional Black Caucus convention, Geneva Reed-Veal revealed that she doesn’t plan on ending her quest to find out what happened to Bland, the 28-year-old found dead in her Texas jail cell just three days after she was arrested.

“Sandy was 28, but she was my baby,” she said. “I will not stop until we find out what happened to her. ‘Cause what’s been told, we don’t believe it.”

Reed-Veal explained that participating in this year’s CBCF conference has allowed her “therapeutic healing” to begin.

“Her memory will not ever leave this place. She said she wanted to do many things, said she wanted to be international, said she wanted to change history — she’s doing that. So now Sandy is speaking from the other side, even louder than she did when she was here,” Reed-Veal said.

Watch Reed-Veal discuss her daughter’s memory in the video clip above.

TV One’s NewsOne Now has moved to 7 A.M. ET, be sure to watch “NewsOne Now” with Roland Martin, in its new time slot on TV One.
