It’s official – the cast for the Black Panther film has been finalized and we couldn’t be anymore excited.
Yesterday, during Comic Con, cast member Lupita Nyong’o shared an epic selfie with the starring actors of the Marvel film, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, and Chadwick Boseman. Boseman is set to play the main character.
Nyong’o is rumored to portray Boseman’s love interest in the film, while Gurira is said to play a chief of a group of warrior women. In an interview with Fast Company, director and writer of the film Ryan Coogler said:
It’s a specific challenge. What Marvel’s doing, and what you see a lot of studios doing now that Marvel has done it so successfully, is making content that exists in a particular universe, where the characters tie in and crossover, and I think that’s a great creative challenge to me—to make this movie as personal as possible. It’s going to be my most personal movie to date, which is crazy to say, but it’s completely the case. I’m obsessed with this character and this story right now, and I think it’s going to be very unique and still fit into the overall narrative that they’re establishing.
Meanwhile, Twitter is expressing it’s collective joy over the image of an all-Black Marvel cast:
‘Black Panther’ is slated to release on February 18, 2018.
