Desiigner turned the energy up to 100 on stage at Radio One’s The Blitz last night, performing his hits “Panda,” “Timmy Turner” and more on stage at Stage 48 in NYC. We caught up with the rapper just a soon as he stepped off stage for a quick chat about what’s happening in his career.

After giving us the backstory on how he wrote “Timmy Turner,” the G.O.O.D. Music emcee turned his attention to what it’s like being mentored by Kanye West. “He told me, ‘we’re not rappers, we’re artists.’ And I had that mindset coming to him. That’s what made me sign with Kanye West. Period,” he says. “He’s just like having a big brother at home.”

Watch all this and more — including the scoop on Pusha T‘s upcoming album! — in our exclusive interview, above.
