Nicki Minaj may have been under the radar lately, save for a few feature verses. But her latest release proves that lyrically, she’s the same old Nicki.
While hinting on Twitter earlier in the day that she was thinking about sharing a little something special, fans were expecting Young Money’s first lady to step forward to confirm the pregnancy rumors her boyfriend Meek Mill stirred up on Instagram.
The Queens rapper instead dropped the unexpected “Prinkprint Freestyle” via Soundcloud. The six-minute track is reminiscent of Nicki’s early mixtape days, delivering hard hitting verses over the instrumentals of Young M.A.’s “Ooouuu” and snippets of M.I.A.’s signature hit “Paper Planes.”
Nicki opens it with a little shoutout to her boss and mentor Lil’ Wayne, whose been down in the dumps recently about his binding contract with Cash Money. She then compares herself to Jay-Z, and even gives a nod to our fallen soldier Harambe.
