Golden Globe nominated movie Hidden Figures hits theaters this month and I’m giving you an all-access look at this inspiring film. Based on true events, Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, 3 brilliant African-American women who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in NASA history.

Xilla Valentine sat down with the cast for the latest episode of Extra Butter. Taraji P Henson talks about how she couldn’t stop crying the first time she saw this film.

“I just knew that what we accomplished, was something that was so important, so needed and so poignant. It felt like all that pressure that we felt, the responsibility, it was finally an exhale.” 

Octavia Spencer, who was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her role, discussed the praise the movie is getting.

“It’s a movie whose time has come. We are representing these unsung heroes and right now children needs positive images and women need positive images and II think the country needs it.”

Kevin Costner, who plays a big role in this movie, talks about a dramatic scenes where his character makes a big move against racism, and he explores how people might be sociopaths in real life but a movie like this will give them an image of who they want to be.

Don’t be surprised if you see Hidden Figures on many top ten movie lists this year. This remarkable film hits theaters on Christmas Day.
