Mary J. Blige has always kept it real with her fans through her music, but when it came to her recent divorce drama, the singer let the headlines speak for themselves.
On Thursday, the queen of hip-hop soul finally opened up to Angie Martinez about what caused her seemingly sudden split from ex Kendu Isaacs after 16 years of marriage. She revealed, “The overwhelming disrespect. You’re too familiar, you’re way too familiar. You’re disrespecting me and I know. I can sense that I’m not what you want anymore. Because now you start throwing questions around like ‘Why you don’t cook?’ I haven’t been cooking. Or ‘Why you don’t wear your hair like this?’ I never wore my hair like this before.”
As for the rumors of infidelity, Mary added, “You start to realize that this man doesn’t want you. And he’s gone all the time. When you realize you’re by yourself in a relationship and you’re just suffering through it…now it’s time to do some investigating.”
Although the singer didn’t say exactly what she found in her investigating, she said, “I was getting things here and there, but I didn’t have no full proof. But when i got the full proof, I didn’t have to investigate it, it just showed up.” As you may recall, Isaacs is now fighting for a whopping $110,000 in monthly spousal support.
