At the ages of 24 and 25 years old, we lost two of hip hop’s most influential and talented voices in eerily similar ways.

Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G were once two friends making their way through the hip-hop industry until a misunderstanding drove a wedge between the two rappers. On September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot in a drive-by shooting. Notorious B.I.G was fatally shot in a drive-by in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997.

Many theories surround their tragic deaths, however, their murders still remain unprosecuted. Now, over 20 years after the death of these two icons, USA has produced a series, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. that will take a deeper look into the LAPD investigations of these murders and the detectives put in charge of solving the case.

Emmy Winner Anthony Hemingway (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) serves as director and executive producer, alongside creator Kyle Long and executive producer Mark Taylor. The series goes beyond the headlines to explore the complicated friendship between these two icons, delving into a culture that both defined them and was forever changed in the wake of their untimely deaths. In seeking the truth behind the conspiracies, the one question that begs to be answered is: how can a case this famous still be unsolved?
