It’s hard out here in the workforce…even for a robot.
Everyone meet Fabio.
He’s just a regular robot who was putting in work at the Scottish supermarket Margiotta. He was developed by Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, and Fabio was designed to hold conversations and assist customers with their store needs.
He was fired this past week and it wasn’t cute. Crying even went on, according to witnesses.
Swipe through to find out the emotional details of Fabio’s rise and fall.
At first, all seemed well with Fabio. He would happily greet customers with a “hello gorgeous” or give them a high five to brighten their day.

But soon, the real Fabio came out.
According to IFLScience, Fabio barely knew anything about the store. When folks asked him where stuff was, he gave vague answers. For example, if someone asked where the cheese was, Fabio would say “cheese is in the fridges” or if someone asked “where is the beer,” he’d respond with “in the alcohol section.”
Way to be sarcastic Fabio!
Eventually, Fabio was so annoying, he was given tasks just to keep him out the way. Sausage samples anyone?
At the end of it all, Margiotta finally had to give Fabio the boot. He was apart of a trial run with the BBC program Six Robots and Us, so hopefully it wasn’t any hard feelings on Fabio’s part. However, one employee reportedly started crying when Fabio left.
At least we know someone out there loved him. Deuces Fabio!
