Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o is the latest to cover Allure, and the magazine gave the actress and her hairstylist Vernon Francois total creative control for the cover. The feature is titled, “the culture of hair,” and the cover shows a stunning Lupita in braids adorned with multi-colored beads and clasps, and it’s safe to say she looks incredible.
The cover isn’t the only place Lupita was rocking some natural locks, either. Throughout the mag, Nyong’o sports some other stunning looks and talks about why she loves her hair and its versatility.
Unlike a lot of people, Lupita reveals that she like the term “kinky” for her hair, and thinks its a perfect way to describe it. Her stylist also praises the versatility of her natural hair and uses this issue to showcase how many different ways it allows her to style her.
The next photo in the spread shows Lupita in a super fun, colorful dress against a bold backdrop, with her again focusing on the fact that she thinks of her hair as, “African kinky hair.”
The final photo of Nyong’o shows the actress in the same look as the cover, but this time from a different angle. We get to see the Black Panther star with those same braids from the side, and the photo is in black and white to intensify the look. Her hair stylist Vernon reveals that the two have wanted to do her hair like this for a spread for a long time, and they’re extremely happy they got to execute it for Allure.
