Here’s Why You Should Be Hype AF That Democrats Took Back The House [Told By Gifs]

Today is a good day for Americans. It’s sort of like a fresh start that reflects the new year we’ve just embarked on.
What better way to promote being out with the old and in with the new than to have Democrats finally be the majority in the House of Representatives. You may recall that during the midterm elections last year, Dem’s like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez racked up the votes giving them a huge lead over Republicans by gaining 53.1% of the more than 111 million votes cast nationwide compared to the GOP’s 45.2%.
But besides the fact that Republics are no longer holding American freedom hostage with an iron fist, hit the flip for more reasons why Democrats taking back the house will be lit AF.
They get to start the impeachment process for Trump
The Constitution gives the House of Representatives the power to impeach a civil officer of the government. As we all know, Dems have been feigning to get Cheeto Trump out of office. Now is the perfect time to reclaim our time.
They get to investigate the entire White House
The Dems now have the authority to investigate the current White House staff and all their foolery— specifically their mismanagement of the federal government. Rep Elijah Cummings told the New York Times, “I’m not trying to do anything extraordinary. I’m trying to do what the Constitution says I’m supposed to do.”
New Rules In Place
According to NPR: “At the beginning of each new session of Congress, the House adopts a rules package to govern how the chamber is run and how legislation comes up for a vote. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has said that Democrats are working on new rules to allow for more debate on the House floor.”
Checks & Balances
Dem’s can now hault or override the President’s ridiculous bills. Democratic candidates pledge they will take up legislation to increase the minimum wage, expand child care availability and control prescription drug costs.
The conversation about building a wall will soon come to an end
With Dem’s running the house, Trump will be forced to negotiate on government spending to enact key administration priorities. Which means all that talk about spending so much money on building a wall to keep Mexicans out will not only be addressed, but most likely shut down.
Trump has to hand over his tax returns
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that her top priority for 2019 is to retrieve Donald Trump’s tax returns. Ya know, the ones he refuses to show although he could be potentially punished for tax fraud. Thanks Pelosi.
We may find out what really went down during the 2016 elections
Dem’s now have the authority to investigate the Trump administration’s foreign contacts — especially folks they were in contact with during the 2016 elections.
