Cinema’s big night is only a few days away and already anticipation is building. The Oscars on Sunday is sure to be full of surprises and letdowns, and it’s only right we put our own spin on the ceremony to avoid a boring evening.
Hit the next pages for some Oscar predictions, snubs and swap-able nominees that could keep things interesting.
Shoo-In to win
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse for Best Animated Feature
Who knew an animated superhero film would make it to the Oscars?
Into the Spider-Verse deserves all the praise too thanks to its unorthodox story, heart-warming humor and action-packed scenes. Mix in stunning animation and a hint of social commentary, and you have a shoo-in to win the Best Animated Feature category.
Sorry Incredibles 2.
Biggest snub
Brian Tyree Henry for Best Supporting Actor
Much of the acting attention for If Beale Street Could Talk has been rightfully aimed at Regina King. There’s no need to explain this since the woman has been killing it since 227.
However, one performance has been grossly overlooked by the awards circuit, and it’s Brian Tyree Henry‘s.
In the movie, he plays Daniel, a friend to Stephan James‘ character Fonny. After being released from prison, Daniel shares a hunting tale of life behind bars and though the scene was probably less than ten minutes, it was definitely worth all the Oscar nominations.
If we could swap nominees…
Definitely swap out Green Book for Sorry to Bother You for Best Original Screenplay.
While Mahershala Ali always delivers in the acting category, Green Book ended up being just another White savior slash “white racists are human too!” movie.
YAWN.
Meanwhile, Sorry to Bother You was a wonderfully original script that used absurdist humor to criticize office culture, capitalism and the thorns of racism.
Get Boots Riley his nomination!
Performance that should slay
“All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA……maybe.
In an odd move, the Academy has yet to announce whether Kendrick and SZA will be performing at the Oscars or not. With only four days before the show, things aren’t looking too bright.
But it would surely be an amazing performance. If their execution is anything like the stunning “All the Stars” music video, the Oscar crowd would be in for an evening highlight.
Red Carpet Slayer
Chadwick Boseman

If you haven’t noticed, the glow-up for Chadwick has been serious in 2018. With a well-groomed beard and a fade worthy of a Wakandan king, Chadwick made us pay attention.
In 2019, Chadwick continues to slay with the looks during awards season.
Exhibit A…
And B…
Di Black Pantha is sure to own the Oscars red carpet.
Best Presenter In A Supporting Role
Tyler Perry

Some of the funniest moments at the Oscars usually comes from presenters and with Tyler billed as a star handing out statues, we hope he brings the jokes.
Heck, this is his (alleged) last year playing Madea, so he might as well throw in a couple “hellurrrs” and “hallelujerrrs” at the Oscars…
For the people!
Hopeful Viral Moment
Celebrity hosts takeover
Considering the fact that the Oscars still don’t have a host, it would be amazing to watch multiple celebs grab hold of the mic.
Maybe Sterling K. Brown opens with a dance routine, Tiffany Haddish does five minute stand-up, and a selection of powerful singers close everything out with a Queen tribute.
With no host, loads of viral moments are destined to occur to the point where the idea of a host might become a distant memory.
