News of Outkast‘s Andre 3000 playing rock legend Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic isn’t anything that hasn’t been heard before, but if you thought it was squashed by the Experience Hendrix estate, think again!

They’ve had a change of heart, and allowed for the film to move forward.
So Mr. Benjamin will have his chance to walk in Hendrix’s shoes and play his guitar!
The project will be called All By My Side and focus on the late singer’s life between 1966 and 1967, in which he recorded his debut album Are You Experienced.

All By My Side is scheduled to begin shooting later this month in Ireland.
