The elder brother, who was killed in the shootout with police last Thursday, reportedly made a very emotional and surprising call to his mother before the alleged rampage.

“The police, they have started shooting at us, they are chasing us,” Tsarnaev told his mother Zubeidat Tsarnaeva.

At the time, he was hurling pressure cooker bombs at officers in the suburb of Watertown, as he and his brother fired more than 200 rounds.

Then, finally, before hanging up, Tsarnaev said: “Mama, I love you.”

Moments later when he ran out of bullets, he charged police before officers tackled him. Sources close to the investigation are now saying that Tamerlan sustained his fatal injuries when his brother, Dzhokar, ran him over and dragged his body some 40 feet.

On Sunday, authorities revealed that the brothers’ plans didn’t just stop at the Boston Marathon bombing, and that they planned on inflicting pain on a number of other individuals. Fortunately, however, they were caught.

The two men suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings were armed with a small arsenal of guns, ammunition and explosives when they first confronted the police early Friday, and were most likely planning more attacks, the authorities said Sunday. […]

Boston police commissioner, Edward Davis, told CBS News’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday: “We have reason to believe, based upon the evidence that was found at that scene — the explosions, the explosive ordnance that was unexploded and the firepower that they had — that they were going to attack other individuals.”

Wow! We’re thankful for the law enforcement officers that put themselves in harm’s way to stop any future attacks the Tsarnaevs might have had planned.
