Here’s another case of “I don’t think that’s racism” ignorance.

Danny Hafley of Casey County, Ky., says a life-sized mannequin of President Obama in his front yard holding a slice of watermelon is not a racist display.

Really now?

Hafley says it’s meant to be a joke. In fact, he says that the watermelon is meant for the fake Obama in case the statue gets “hungry.”

“The way I look at it, it’s freedom of speech,” said Danny Hafley. “I don’t know how other people will take it.”

He goes on about the Halloween mask that he bought around the time of the November election, telling reporters that the statue is like his “buddy.”

“He don’t talk. Don’t make no smart comments. If I had a dollar for everyone who stopped and took a picture of it I’d be a millionaire.”

Of course his neighbors didn’t find anything wrong with the makeshift statue, saying Hafley has a right to display it right by the road, but one anonymous neighbor actually had the sense to make a connection between the doll and how it could be offensive.

“If he wants to place it someplace else that would be fine,” said the neighbor. “We don’t have black people in this community but I’m sure they travel this road like everybody else does. They could be offended. I don’t agree with it.”

The neighbor added that the figure originally had a sign asking people to pray that Obama won’t destroy America.

Hafley, proud of his creation, said he’s not taking down the watermelon eating statue until the spring, or at least until he gets in trouble.

But again. That’s not racist at all. -_-
