The tension between the U.S. and North Korea has gone on for many years, where our contact has been little to none, but that all changed this past week.

While most would expect a government official to have made a breakthrough with leader Kim Jong Un, it was actually none other than Dennis Rodman who sat down and spent the week with the dictator.

The former NBA star went to matches, had drinks, and bonded with the North Korean leader, and even got a message for Barack Obama from him.

Rodman told ABC News:

“He wants Obama to do one thing: Call him. He said, ‘If you can, Dennis – I don’t want [to] do war. I don’t want to do war.’ He said that to me.”

“[Kim] loves basketball. And I said the same thing, I said, ‘Obama loves basketball.’ Let’s start there.”

The trip to North Korea shocked the country when Rodman announced that he would go, being the first American to meet with Kim Jong Un since the death of his father Kim Jong-Il.

Although the dictator is one that is highly criticized for his decisions to run prison camps and torture citizens, Rodman doesn’t consider him anything but a “friend”.

“He loves power. He loves control,” Rodman said, of his new “friend.” “But guess what? He doesn’t want war. That’s one thing he doesn’t want.”

How random, hilarious and quite wonderful. You go Rodman!
