Last night, President Obama got emotional while he ended his re-election campaign at the place where his journey toward the White House all began – Iowa, the state that helped him gain traction from the Senate to the presidency.

STORY: This Is It! Election Day Is Here!

More than 20,000 people joined the president in Des Moines, Iowa for his last campaign speech, which deflected away from criticism of his political opponent Mitt Romney, and instead centered on his vision for America. The rally was held yards away from his 2008 caucus headquarters where his journey toward the White House began.

“I came back to ask you to help us finish what we started because this is where our movement for change began. To all of you who’ve lived and breathed the hard work of change: I want to thank you. You took this campaign and made it your own … starting a movement that spread across the country,” said the incumbent.

The sentimental President teared up during his nostalgic speech where he reminisced on his ’08 campaign chant, “fired-up-ready-to-go” and ended the event playing Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours,” which was his anthem four years ago.

Both his current and former top adviser also joined him at the event, David Axelrod and David Plouffe.

He dwelt on the ideals that shaped his 2008 campaign.

“And that shows you what one voice can do. One voice can change a room. And if it can change a room, it can change a city. And if it can change a city, it can change a state. And if it can change a state, it can change a nation. And if it can change a nation, it can change the world.”
