Last weekend (July 27th) at San Diego Comic-Con, HBO unveiled the highly anticipated trailer for The Penguin, from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. The eight-episode limited series will debut weekly beginning Thursday, September 19th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

Starring Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Daredevil, Miami Vice) as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the DC Studios series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster The Batman. Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series centers on the character played by Farrell and is set one week after the events of The Batman. It will explore the rise to power of Oz Cobb in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

Alongside Farrell, The Penguin also stars Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother, The Wolf of Wall Street) as Sofia Falcone, Rhenzy Feliz (Runaways) as Victor Aguilar, Michael Kelly (House of Cards, Jack Ryan) as Johnny Viti, Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) as Nadia Maroni, Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb, Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, Billions, John Wick: Chapter 4) as Salvatore Maroni, James Madio as Milos Grapa (Band of Brothers), Scott Cohen (Gilmore Girls) as Luca Falcone, Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Alberto Falcone, Carmen Ejogo (What’s the Worst That Could Happen?, Selma) as Eve Karlo, and Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, Luke Cage) as Dr. Julian Rush.

The series was executive produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc (who wrote and served as showrunner), Craig Zobel (who directed the first three episodes), and Bill Carraro. Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, The Penguin is produced by Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Reeves and 6th & Idaho are under an overall deal, and DC Studios. Daniel Pipsi also served as an executive producer.
