In strange twist of reality and elaborate hoax news, Marc Jacobs actually hired Parisian artist Kidult to tag his store!

Earlier this week we reported on Kidult spraying ART across the front of the Mercer Street location of Marc Jacobs.  In the past Kidult has done the same to the storefronts of brands like Supreme, Louis Vuitton, Agnes B. and Celine, and was considered vandalism, but this time was much different.

Marc Jacobs has worked with several artist in the past including KAWS, Takashi Murakami and Stephen Sprouse for his brand as well as Louis Vuitton, so a Kidult collaboration may not be as strange as this seems, but did it have to go to this extreme?

We are sure the cleanup cost an arm and a leg and a large amount of man-hours, which may be why the price-point for the Kidult x Marc Jacobs shirt depicting the “art attack” cost $680.

No frills, just a Marc Jacobs branded t-shirt with a screen-print picture of Kidult’s ART sprayed across the storefront, with a caption that reads “Art by Art Jacob$.”

Maybe we should have known this was what was going on all along. Marc’s camp had nothing negative to say about the tag on the store and even tweeted a picture of it with the same “Art by Art Jacobs” caption.

Really smooth Marc.

We don’t know if we’re willing to drop $680 on the tee, but we like it.

Check out a picture of the shirt as well as ones that were taken directly after Kidult put up the tag and the sub sequential clean-up in the gallery above.
