Now, a Brunswick City Commissioner is behind bars and being accused of obstructing law enforcement and influencing a witness in the murder investigation of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.

According to ActionNewsJax:

Commissioner James Henry Brooks, Sr. was arrested Thursday night. Brooks’ attorney says he stepped in between officers and the mother of 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins, one of the teens charged with murder in the case.

Attorney Alan David Tucker says police were trying to speak with Karimah Elkins during the teen’s first court appearance on Monday when the incident occurred.
According to the Glynn County Jail, Brooks is charged with influencing a witness and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He is in jail under no bond.

This isn’t Brooks’ first time running into trouble. In 2012, he was arrested on a bribery charge.
