Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders gain another supporter.

Denver Nuggets star Kenneth Faried has teamed up with an organization dedicated to fighting against homophobia in sports. Faried is the first, and hopefully not the last, NBA player to join the organization.

Super Bowl Champ Brednson Ayanbadejo: “Not A Fight For Gay Rights, A Fight For Human Rights!”

Raised by two mothers, Faried, nicknamed “Manimal,” finds comfort in advocating for equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

Faired says: “Becoming an Athlete Ally gives me the opportunity to spread a message of inclusiveness throughout the NBA and out country. I have two moms and I love them both very much. I respected, honor, and support them in every way. The bond I have with them has made me realize that I want all members of the LGBT community– whether they are parents, players, coaches or fans– to feel welcome in the NBA and in all of our communities.”

Kenneth Faried’s participation in the fight against homophobia and advocating that members of the LGBT be treated fairly may be the start to a beautiful movement. His statements are opening doors for those in the NBA who share his viewpoints to stand with him against such inequality.

Super Bowl champion Brendon Ayanbadejo was courageous when he too took a stand supporting same sex marriages over four years ago. He believes “the rights you take for granted are only valid if you fight to give those same rights to others.”

Both Faried and Ayanbadejo are commendable athletes for standing up for what they believe in and fighting the good fight against LGBT discrimination.
