Three JFK International Airport baggage handlers also known as “ramp rats” were busted for committing a serious grand theft style heist! Officials say the three workers reportedly stole $160,000 in jewelry from the carry-on bag of a Las Vegas-bound passenger.

The items were allegedly swiped after baggage handler Brandon Lawley, 25, overheard passenger Rita Lamberg talking about the cache of gems and gold as she boarded a Feb. 9 flight.

Lawley, who works for Ground Services International, which is under contract to US Airways, allegedly got hold of Lamberg’s bag after she was forced to stow it in the plane’s belly because there was no room for it in the cabin.

He allegedly passed it on to two fellow workers, Fatima McClattie, 25, and John Delgado, 46, according to a Queens Criminal Court complaint.

The 3 culprits appeared in Queens criminal court yesterday. Delgado was ordered held on $15,000 cash bond. McClattie was held on $10,000 bond, and Lawley was held on $5,000 bond.

This is a bit disturbing and a reminder to travel safe and make sure all your belongings are locked down!
