In a brand new promo for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, Drake is going back in time to the days when men dressed like, well, men. The Young Money MVP is just one of a few artists picked to promote this year’s star studded VMA’s, in a special campaign designed around the 1940’s, and entirely shot in black and white film.

Drake’s commercial specifically shows the young artist backstage moments before a performance of his hit song ‘Over’. He pours himself a short glass of what is presumably liquor and takes a seat to read the paper in an effort to calm his nerves. He then gets up, walks through back stage, his suit fully intact with a top hat, and then an orchestra begins playing ‘Over’ as he goes down a flight of stairs in a stage setup that looks like something straight out of the Cotton Club.

Check out the commercial on the next page, as well as more stills. Hat tip to MTV for this.
