This movie made me think fondly of an early Superman movie whereby Superman (the late Christopher Reeve) made the earth turn a few times in the opposite direction and literally turned back time so that he could save Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).

This movie made me think fondly of an early Superman movie whereby Superman (the late Christopher Reeve) made the earth turn a few times in the opposite direction and literally turned back time so that he could save Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).

Sitting through this screening made me want to be Superman real bad so that I could get my 84 minutes back. Man. Unless you are a die-hard fan of the TV series (and I really mean this) don’t expect to be gleeful after this shameless plug for the TV series and loud experience also known as Glee The 3D Concert Movie

Lovers of Glee … you can stop reading now because this movie was made just for you and you better go see it. The innocent, keep reading…

So this is what I could extract from the shreds of narrative that survive the lame musical numbers (OK, the Michael Jackson stuff I will always love … even if tortured). Glee the TV show is an agent of change.

It helps young gay kids cope with coming out of the closet anxiety. It can almost cure Asperger’s Syndrome. It can help little people feel like they belong and “stand up.” I kid you not. No es chiste.

And these are just three testimonials … I can only imagine what other magic Glee, the show, can perform.

Maybe if I become a “Gleek” or “Gleeka” I can conquer my fear of flying. I will add it to my bucket list tonight. Can it make me taller too?

In fact, I actually used to enjoy watching this TV show from time to time, until I saw this propaganda piece.

[pagebreak]

Other important facts about this phony documentary. Die-hard fans are called “Gleeks.” Thousands of shrieking “Gleeks” answered the Glee call to be in the crowd when two shows were recorded at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. In a very American Idol move, a few folks even give testimonials as to how Glee has changed their lives for the better … and maybe just saved their lives. Has it changed anyone’s life for the worse? It definitely did for me…

So, were these actors or real testimonials? Who knows and who cares?

And yes, I already knew that Lea Michele is beautiful and talented and can sound, given the right song, like Barbs. At least she gets to showcase her undeniable talents over and over. And this is a good thing. Pretty much the rest of the young cast is also on stage for most of the time.

I also knew that Kevin McHale, the kid who plays Artie Abrams can actually walk in real life … and even then it was a little creepy to see him stand from his wheelchair. Either you are in character or you are not dude. What’s up with that, mijo?

And hey, what on earth was up with the 3D?  Really? Did we really need THAT gimmick? Why would anyone want a concert in 3D anyway unless its Cris Angel performing some trick that will make you feel you are levitating?

I mean talk about waste of YOUR money.

And why did the wonderful Gwyneth Paltrow get dragged into this without the other adults at this New Jersey karaoke show?  Dios Mio, what is she doing here without her love interest?

Where are Sue Sylvester and Will Shuester when you need them? I do think that Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison were smart enough to stay away and too grown-up to be part of this nonsense, smart cookies they are…

So here’s the mero mero skinny on this atrocity. Know who you are. If you are a Gleek, you indignantly stopped reading this a long time ago. If you are not, run, corre, as fast as you can in the opposite direction … protect your hard earned dolares and save your precious time. You will thank me later.

It’s later dude.
