Paul Ryan, the GOP VP nominee, laid out the plan that he and his running mate Mitt Romney plan to implement to help poor people reach upward mobility, should they win the election … which is slashing government safety net programs.

Ryan explained that in order to foster economic growth, he would cut back on entitlement programs and limit the amount of government assistance that low income families receive by creating “block grants.” According to him, “block grants” would provide state governments with a fixed amount of federal money, which they can decide how to spend.

Ryan said:

“Upward mobility is the central promise of life in America. But right now, America’s engines of upward mobility aren’t working the way they should. Mitt Romney and I are running because we believe that Americans are better off in a dynamic, free-enterprise-based economy that fosters economic growth, opportunity and upward mobility instead of a stagnant, government-directed economy that stifles job creation and fosters government dependency.”

The Wisconsin congressman continued:

“The federal government would continue to provide the resources, but we would remove the endless federal mandates and restrictions that hamper state efforts to make these programs more effective,” Ryan said. “If the question is what’s best for low-income Ohioans, shouldn’t we let Ohioans make that call?”

This sounds like the “47 percent” video all over again. But, if you agree that the majority of working class people are “victims” and government dependents, then it makes sense for you to also think that cutting their life line will somehow result in them taking advantage of the mass job market.
