You got the poop-face now, but when you were buying cashmere sweaters and rolex watches, trying to steal political seats, and embezzling money, it was all shits and giggles!

PHOTOS: BUSTED! Sen. Malcolm Smith Arrested For Trying To Rig NYC Mayoral Election!

Politicians didn’t get a bad rep for doing good things. And it’s no secret that there are more than enough of them with their hands in dirty money and dirty doings.

But when they get caught, well, that’s a different story.

Like prominent Queens politician, Malcolm Smith, who was arrested just this morning for attempting to rig this year’s mayoral election in New York. His partner in crime, Dan Halloran, tried to say he didn’t know what he was being arrested for.

Of course ya’ll play dumb now… but they were geniuses when it was time to develop an elaborate plan to swindle us all!

More on him later, because he’s not the only one trying to kick it on campaign funds and roll is stolen money.

Here are a few dirty politicians who tried to steal their money, power and respect.

Remember this guy? Former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for trying to illegally trade President Barack Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat in exchange for $1.5 million in campaign contributions and other persona benefits. Other charges? Blagojevich was also sentenced for shaking down the chief executive of a children’s hospital for $25,000 in campaign contributions in exchange for implementing an increase to pediatric reimbursement rates; holding up the signing of a bill to benefit the Illinois horse racing industry in an attempt to illegally obtain $100,000 in campaign contributions; and lying to the FBI in 2005. Damn homie.

Jesse Jackson Jr. should be ashamed of himself, parading around like he’s in a 1990’s Puff Daddy video! Buying cashmeres, Rolex watches and furs weren’t the only thing this child of a legendary civil rights leader was doing. He misused more than $750,000 of campaign cash on more personal items…and who knows what else! Trying to be fancy will get you about 46-57 months in jail…without parole. How embarrased is your father, JJJ?

When Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted of a handful of crimes, including racketeering conspiracy, which carries a maximum punishment of 20 years behind bars, Detroit and many others were let down. With such a promosing future, the charasmatic politician threw it all away on bribes, rigged contracts and money, money, money! Internal Revenue Service agents said Kilpatrick spent $840,000 beyond his mayoral salary.
And i
f you don’t remember Kilpatrick, he was the young 31-year-old elected to office in 2001, who resigned after a sex scandal and spent 14 months in prison for violating probation. So yeah…trouble was always his middle name!

Talk about old school! Former Rep. William Jefferson was convicted after authorities found $90,000 stashed away in his freezer (along side some Pillsbury pie crust) like it was the Great Depression! He was sentenced to 13 years in prison for accepted roughly $500,000 in bribes and engaging in money laundering while serving in Congress.

Then there’s this guy, who tried to rig an entire election. My dude, this isn’t Scandal! Apparently Sen. Malcolm Smith and Dan Halloran were arrested early Tuesday for attempting to rig this year’s mayoral election. The pair are said to have formed an alliance to place Smith, a Democrat who represents Queens Village, St. Albans and Jamaica, onto the Republican mayoral ballot by enlisting the support of major GOP leaders through bribes. But when those cuffs went “clink-clink” this morning, all those champagne dreams were smashed to bits. Should have played the game fair, SMH.
