It’s a wrap for your boy, ex-Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.

Today a federal judge sentenced Blagojevich to 14 years for corruption when he tried to sell or trade the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.

STORY: Rod Blagojevich Has Been Found Guilty

In court, Blagojevich apologized for his crimes and pleaded to the judge, asking for mercy.

Chicago has had a log history of crooked politicians and now we can add Blagojevich to the list.

Blagojevich is the second successive Illinois governor sentenced for corruption, his Republican predecessor, George Ryan, is currently serving a 6 and a half year term.

Blagojevich’s final plea for mercy came in an apology. After years of insisting he was innocent, he told the judge he’d made “terrible mistakes” and acknowledged that he broke the law.

“I’m here convicted of crimes … ” Blagojevich said, “and I am accepting of it, I acknowledge it and I of course am unbelievably sorry for it.”

F.B.I. wiretaps are what brought down the governor, he was recorded boasting that his chance to name someone to Obama’s seat was “f—ing golden” and he wouldn’t let it go “for f—ing nothing.”

Looks like another politician bites the dust.
