President Barack Obama’s foreign-policy circle is changing with the resignation of Tom Donilon, and now he’s placing diplomat Susan E. Rice in his place.

That means Rice will now be the national security advisor, a blow to Republicans after they harshly criticized her for presenting an erroneous account of the deadly attacks on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya.  Luckily, it’s not up to them – the post does not require Senate confirmation.

To take Rice’s place, Obama plans to nominate Samantha Power, a National Security Council official, the new American ambassador to the United Nations.

Congratulations!
