On Thursday, June 13, six months after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, families and friends of victims will join policymakers and advocates outside the U.S. Capitol Building for a day-long event to remember the 26 children and educators tragically murdered last December in Newtown, Connecticut.

Families and advocates will begin the day at 9:00 a.m. with a “No More Names” reading to remember the 4,800 men, women, and children who have been killed by guns since the tragedy in Newtown.

  • 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Name-reading vigil observing the lives lost since the Newtown shooting
  • 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Press conference with key lawmakers, formation of the “Ribbon of Remembrance,” and a moment of silence
  • 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.: Resume name-reading vigil observing the lives lost since the Newtown shooting

The Newtown Action Alliance is an action-based grassroots organization founded by Newtown residents in the weeks after December 14, 2012. 

The organization is dedicated to reversing the escalating gun violence epidemic in this nation through the introduction of smarter, safer gun laws and broader cultural change.
