Wassup World!!! We are the Stereotypes.

Some of you may know who we are and some of you may not.  For those of you who don’t we are a production team based out of Los Angeles working on invading your airwaves everyday!! If you aren’t familiar with our work, some of our credits include ‘Damaged’ by Danity Kane, ‘Even Angels’ by Fantasia, ‘Somebody to Love’ by Justin Bieber, and ‘Girls on the Dance Floor’ by Far East Movement.  Its a blessing to be able to speak to y’all through this blog to tell you our Journey of how we got here and to keep you informed of our future encounters.

Jerm Beats: a native of Sacramento who can play almost every instrument under the sun. His music industry experience before producing was working at Guitar Center. RayRo: a native of New York that specializes in percussion who’s industry lineage stems from interning for Puff Daddy, to working for Jermaine Dupri, and finally getting hired by LA Reid to A&R at Def Jam.

And then there’s me, Jon Street: who is also a native of Sacramento. I play the keys and I made my way through the industry working at Interscope Records in the A&R admin department, a less glamorous position, but it got me the connects I needed to know! We all know the saying ‘Everything happens for a reason’..well, the way we met fits that phrase exactly.

If Jerm wasn’t working at the Guitar Center in Sacramento and I still didn’t go back there for my dentist appointments, we would’ve never met. They just happened to be next store to each other and I went by after to pick up some equipment and asked if they gave an industry discount.  Jerm overheard me say that I worked at Interscope and asked if he could play me some beats.  We’ve been working ever since.  Now I met Ray when we took a trip out to New York to try and get our artist at the time (Durtee 3) a record deal.  Ray was our meeting at Def Jam that was set up by Durtee 3’s manager at the time which almost didn’t happen because he forgot that we had it scheduled. Long story short, LA Reid ended up signing him over the same weekend and us and Ray begin working on the album together.

Unfortunately, the project was shelved and never saw the light of day. There was a blessing that came out of all of this though, and that was the relationship we kept with Ray as the years went on.  In 2007, he ended up getting laid off (or as he likes to call it ‘Fired’) and he wasn’t sure what he was going to do.  He called me up and said ‘I’m thinking of moving to LA to work with yall, would you be down?’.  I told him, ‘yeah, lets see whats up’. and the rest is history. Both Jerm and Ray moved to LA in 2007 and we began working on an everyday basis out my spare bedroom, treating producing like a 9 to 5 job.  About six months later came ‘Damaged’….Now three years later, we have our own studio and are booked out at least 3 weeks in advance with sessions.

Sometimes we can’t even believe how we got here.  I’d like to believe HARD WORK…but I also know LUCK and of course GOD is the reason.
