Suspected Islamists opened fire on worshippers and burned four churches on Sunday in a Nigerian village close to the town where 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in April. At least 30 bodies were recovered but more were still being found in the bushes, said a member of a vigilante group that has had some successes in repelling attacks. The church buildings destroyed included the Protestant Church of Christ, the Pentecostal Deeper Life Bible Church, and Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa, which is Hausa for Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Yahi said. Read about it here…[TheGuardian]

Video obtained from a police cruiser dash cam captured an Arizona police officer throwing an Arizona State University professor to the ground last month. The tape shows Dr. Ersula Ore, who was pulled aside by campus police for trying to cross in the middle of a street, talking to officers. After the talk escalates, the officers attempt to handcuff a resistant Ore, eventually getting her in cuffs after slamming her to the ground. ASU authorities say they have reviewed the circumstances surrounding the arrest and have found no evidence of inappropriate actions by the ASUPD officers involved. Ore, however, plans to take action. So this happened. A Kansas woman was charged with arson after police say she set her home on fire while trying to kill a spider. On Friday, Ginny M. Griffith, 34, used a cigarette lighter to set some towels on fire in hopes of catching the eight-legged beast. Instead, she nearly burned down her home and the other half of the duplex.
