The name of the police officer who fatally shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown on Saturday will be identified by Tuesday afternoon, according to Ferguson, Missouri police.
Police Chief Thomas Jackson confirmed that the officer’s name will be released during a news conference.
From KSDK:
Monday morning protesters gathered at the Ferguson Police Department calling for the release of the officer’s name and Ferguson police’s “Protocol Handbook.” They also want the department’s employees to reflect the racial demographic of the community.
Protesters on Monday night were met with rubber bullets and tear gas fired by officers in riot gear. Many protestors lifted their hands in a show of solidarity with Brown, who was said to have raised his hands in surrender when he was shot multiple times by the Ferguson police officer.
