The 2-year-old son of a North Florida deputy accidentally fired his father’s personal handgun inside of a Wendy’s fast food restaurant.

While standing in line waiting to order their food, the toddler put his hand in his father’s front right pocket, accidentally firing the .380-caliber Kel-Tec semi-automatic pistol. Bullet fragments hit the boy’s foot, the child’s grandfather, and two other female customers standing in line.

According to an incident report released Monday by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, neither the young boy nor the adults required medical attention as a result of the incident.

Spokeswoman Mary Justino says Sgt. Matthew Magish has been with the agency since 2001. Magish remains on duty as the investigation continues.
