Today’s Coolest Thing of The Day comes to us from Lori Nix, an artist who combines miniatures and models with photography, creating a surreal blend of the real and the imaginary. Nix has tackled a number of commercial and editorial projects, and some of her best work can be seen on her website.
The photos we picked for today’s Coolest Thing come from Nix’s “The City”, “Lost”, “Some Other Place” and “Accidentally Kansas” projects. “Accidentally Kansas” may be one of her best collections. In it, Nix makes use of her Kansas roots and her liking for 1970s disaster movies, by creating scenes that involve tornadoes, floods and houses being struck by lightening, all taking place in the rural state.
