Less than ten years ago a young rapper blew up on the scene by the name 50 cent, and the title of his debut CD was GET RICH OR DIE TRYING. I must say even though I’m not a fan of ganster rap,I was forced to buy his CD because the title intrigued and caught my attention to the point that I wasn’t able to shake it until I bought the CD. With a title like that I wanted to hear what he had to say. I also must say that is his best work so far. Now fast forward to the present and he’s also know as Curtis Jackson because of his enterpreneurial branding of himself.
He is now a well respected businessman and no one even brings up his harsh past except to say his story is inspirational. Curtis Jackson continues to reinvent himsef and get RICHER while doing so. So why isn’t the title of this piece GET RICH OR DIE Trying? Because I think most of us don’t get that in order to GET RICH you must LIVE FREE. Free of what you ask? Good question. We must free ourselves of everything that will cause us to become apart of the living dead.
The living dead are all around us. They pose as your parents, siblings, coworkers, friends, teachers, husbands snd wives. They are people living around us who have given up on their dreams or never had any. Some of them honestly think they are helping you or protecting you when they tell you it’s impossibe or you have to know someone or you have to be lucky or I tried and I didn’t make it. They are dream killers and will kill yours if you allow them too. Now that’s murder of the worst degree.
LIVE FREE OR DIE Trying is about laying it all on the line, avoiding all exscuses and self inflicted limitations. What if 50 cent would have given up after jam master jay died or after he himself had been shot nine times. Would the World even know Curtis Jackson as we know him today? He refused to give up. He refused to play the victim. He refused to be consumed by revenge. Instead he focused on the positive, I’m still alive and I still have a chance to GET RICH or as I like to say LIVE FREE.
Why am I bringing this up now almost ten years later when everyone knows his story? Again good question. I’m bringing this up because everyday someone like myself is fighting to break FREE. I’m bringing this up now because we too can GET RICH if we’re willing to die.
Free yourself from all things negative and focus all your energy on what truely matters, your dream. There is a positive solution to everything and anything you will face. Make the choice to LIVE and refuse to be denied and the only thing that will die is your fear of failure.
