Michelle Knight, 32, returned to Ariel Castro’s house of horrors where she was imprisoned for eleven years to thank neighbors.

After courageously appearing in court to testify against her captor, Knight followed victim Gina Dejesus’ lead, and visited her former prison. Knight went to neighbor Altagracia Tejeda’s house to personally thank her for her help in the women’s escape.

The neighbors had only nice things to say about Knight, who was the longest-held victim of Castro’s:

“She was friendly, cute and I noticed her remarkable strength as a person who has been through so, so much.”

Knight was the only victim to testify against Castro. In court the day before the visit, she said directly to her tormentor:

“You took 11 years of my life away and I have got it back. As for the 11 years in hell, now your hell is just beginning.”

Knight was abducted in 2002 and had a 2-year-old son at the time. She endured the worst treatment at the hands of Castro. ABC reports:

He impregnated her several times and then would force her to miscarry by starving her for weeks, punching her in the stomach, stomping her and once even threw her down the stairs.

The torture chamber on 2207 Seymour Avenue is set to be demolished. Knight hopes a park with a statue of an angel replaces it.

As always, we wish her the best of luck.
