George Zimmerman appeared before a judge today to be arraigned following Monday’s arrest and a felony aggravated assault charge.

Judge Fred Schott read Zimmerman his rights before asking if he understood. Zimmerman replied with a simple “yes, sir.”

The chief of the public defender’s office in Sanford, Florida, Jeff Dowdy, will be representing the 30-year-old. As previously reported, the defense attorney who aided in Zimmerman’s acquittal of murder, Mark O’Mara, will not be a part of Zimmerman’s newest legal woes.

Judge Schott set Zimmerman’s bond at $9,000, but only with “numerous special conditions,” including no possession of any weapons or ammunition, no contact with his girlfriend, staying away from the addresses where the alleged assault took place, or leaving the state of Florida while on bond.

He is expected to appear in court on Jan. 7, 2014. He will be required to wear GPS monitoring as well.

During the hearing, it was also revealed that girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, told prosecutors about another domestic violence incident that occurred just a week and a half ago, when Zimmerman choked her. She also told prosecutors that Zimmerman has mentioned suicide, saying that “he has nothing to lose.”

There is no word on additional charges being brought against Zimmerman for those allegations.
