It only took a couple of rants, some radio interviews, a few middle fingers to Nike, and the soul of the Red Octobers, but Kanye West’s collaboration with adidas is finally officiated.

After Kanye announced the plans during radio press tours to support his Yeezus Tour, adidas has officially confirmed the collaboration with the Chicago native with a statement that outlines why Kanye was brought into the company’s family, and the big plans they have as a team:

“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”

During an interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97, Kanye made it very clear that adidas was providing something Nike was not: royalties. The deal is reported to be worth on the ups of $10 million, and there is no word on if Yeezy will be designing for adidas or their higher end brand Y-3.

Kudos to both Kanye and adidas on what is sure to be a lucrative endeavor.
